TOUCH: Massage is derived from an arabic word "Mas" which
means touch. Human touch is an awesome, powerful thing. Without
touch, a baby dies, the human heart aches, and the soul withers.
Science and common sense both teach us that we all need to be
touched for our physical welfare, our emotional vitality.
Studies have shown how babies fail to survive if they are not
touched, and they fail to thrive unless they are nurtured by
regular tactile communication. Infants need touch for their
neurological development, and this basic human need does not
disappear as we grow older .This is easily seen in many elder
persons. They spinal curvature is altered which effects organs
and they collapse downward and inward with
there shoulders posture and curvature of the back. Similarly
this happens to people who go through emotional or heart
wrenching experiences The ribs become tight and it is harder to
take large breaths. This is also a symptom present in the
abdomen but presents in different ways for different people.
Even the size of lack there of with different regions of the
body can indicate many different things.
MASSAGE
THERAPY: This is a general term for a range of
therapeutic approaches. The practice of kneading or
otherwise manipulating a person's muscles and other soft
tissue with the intent of improving a person's
well-being or health. Stroking and kneading of the body
parts has been used for centuries to relieve pain.
Shower/ hot bath is suggested to warm the tissues
prior to massage. A bath or warm shower also allows
better manipulation of the muscles. This is highly suggested or take one
immediately before traveling to the session. Being
respectful with hygiene is something a massage therapist
appreciates as most appreciate that of their therapist. I change sheets and towels after each
session and wash my hands before and after massages. A client
with a body that has been warmed up makes a massage even
more effective.
Clients are advised that arriving at least 15-minutes
prior to a treatment session allows time for client
therapist communication about your needs, and to become acquainted
with me. 30minutes is
suggested for Tui Na as the questionnaire and discussion
is lengthy.
A 50% charge is applied to no-show or last
minute cancellations.
Draping – Draping
is required during all massage therapy sessions. Either
towels or sheets. It
should be accomplished with intention, care, and
awareness. It should make a client feel secure, safe,
and cared-for and within their comfort range and legal
requirements. Draping
should leave the client’s genitals, anus and a women’s
nipple
totally covered from any angle of sight. Accidents do
happen but rarely. Draping is a
communication between clients and therapist that their
modesty and privacy
are mutually respected. It is a process that creates a
non-threatening environment and a space of trust for the
client and therapist. All Massage other then clothed Tui Na and Energy Modalities
if not being blended with another style are best performed completely nude/without
underwear under the draped sheets/blanket. |
